Isy Mead

Isy Mead is a storyteller, poet and education specialist, with a passionate belief in the transformative power of shared cultural and artistic spaces as opposed to assessment-driven environments.

Isy has over 20 years’ experience in the formal and informal education sector, from early years through to adult, including 13 years leading teams in the literary charity and museum sector.

As a freelance storyteller and storytelling consultant, she works regularly with clients including Said Business School, the Cheltenham Literature Festival, the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, the National Literacy Trust and Wroclaw’s EduPlanet. She has been Storyteller in Residence for Bristol Museums since 2023.

Isy has 12 years’ experience in literary museums, as Head of Learning and Participation at The Story Museum, Oxford (2015-2024) and Education Manager at The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre (2012-2015). Previously she was a secondary English teacher for 5 years, and also spent 2 years in Rwanda as an Education Metholodogy Trainer to teachers in 15 rural primary schools through Voluntary Service Overseas. Isy’s debut poetry pamphlet was based on this experience, Dear Rwanda (Live Canon, 2023).
